Insurance Coverage & Direct Billing

The following is intended to provide an overview of insurance coverage in relation to our services. Your specific plan may vary.

Direct Billing

We are pleased to offer Direct Billing for select insurance companies. This means we’re now able to charge many insurance plans directly for our services, which means you no longer have to pay up front and submit a claim to be reimbursed.

All you need to provide us with is the policy number and ID for your extended care company – we do the rest.

Eligible Providers

  • Pacific Blue Cross
  • Green Shield
  • Great West Life
  • Sun Life
  • Manulife

Exceptions

Sometimes we might have to take payment “the old fashioned way” – this means you pay in full at the end of a session and submit your receipts to your benefit company for reimbursement.

This might happen if:

  • Your insurance company’s online portal is down
  • You’ve booked with a new RMT that isn’t set up yet
  • You are seeing a Locum RMT
  • Your benefit provider doesn’t offer this service to us

Questions? We are always happy to help – just get in touch.

Coverage Details

We don’t have access to every insurance plan, so it’s best if you check with your employer or insurance provider to learn what your benefits cover. Even though we’d like to help, we can’t always access your account to see what is left, or inquire about the details of your coverage.

Coverage Amounts

Some extended health plans may offer 100% coverage and unlimited sessions. Other health plans may work similar to a bank account, where you can “spend” up to a certain dollar amount as you see fit.

Typically, plans offer between $300 and $500 a year towards massage therapy. Some plans may require a doctor’s referral.

Remember, these are just examples. Only your specific plan provider can give you the details about your coverage.

Coverage Limitations

Partial Coverage – If your plan doesn’t cover the cost of a full session, you will be billed and issued a receipt for what was not covered at the end of the session.

Secondary Coverage – We are not able to coordinate any secondary coverage that you may have through your spouse. Sorry!

Future Payments – We can only bill your insurance plan when services are rendered – we cannot bill for future appointments.

Special Coverage

RCMP Members

RCMP Members

RCMP members have a lump sum account for massage therapy coverage that we bill directly. And when you have reached your maximum, you may still be entitled to more coverage with the right paperwork.

DVA Coverage

DVA Coverage

Veterans are covered up to a maximum $800 per year, and an increase can be applied for if more treatment is required and recommended. A doctor’s referral is necessary to use these benefits and to allow us to bill DVA directly.

Students

Students

While we do offer a small discount for current students, many students may still have coverage under their parent’s insurance plans. Every plan is different, so we encourage you to check with your parent’s insurance provider for details.

MSP Coverage

If you qualify for MSP Premium Assistance, we can bill MSP directly. You just need to provide us with your CareCard and then pay for the remainder of your visit cost at the end of your appointment.

MSP currently covers $23 towards any appointment, up to 10 treatments per calendar year. Your 10 visits are shared with chiropractic, physiotherapy, acupuncture, naturopathy and non-surgical podiatry treatments.

A doctor’s note is not needed for Premium Assistance.

ICBC & WorkSafeBC

We do not offer direct billing for ICBC or WorkSafeBC (Workers’ Compensation Board of British Columbia). Clients must pay up front for treatment, and then can submit the receipts to their adjuster.

For more information about WorkSafeBC coverage, please visit their massage therapy page online.

You can see an RMT after an Motor Vehicle Incident up to 12 visits before requiring a doctor’s note. If treatment and assessment is required after 12 sessions, you will need a doctor’s note to be reimbursed.

Working with a lawyer? Have them fax or email us with what they will be covering for you, and how to proceed with your billing.
